Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department
CALL TO ORDER
The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a regularly scheduled
monthly business meeting on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at the Haworth
Fire Station. Meeting was called to order at 6:42 p.m. by
Boyd. Members present were: Batson, Marsh, Donaldson, Middleton,
Wright, Hall, Boyd, & Gray.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes from the November and December meetings were read. Batson
moved to accept. Middleton seconded. All members in
favor. Minutes approved.
FINANCIAL REPORT
No Finance Report available due to absence of Secretary/Treasurer.
DISMISSAL OF INACTIVE FIREFIGHTER
Members discussed participation levels of firefighters. Middleton
moved to dismiss Sonny Joe Carrell due to inactivity. Batson
seconded. All members in favor. Motion carries.
HIRING OF FIREFIGHTERS
Members discussed hiring firefighter. Only one active application
is currently on file; Donnie Gray, Jr. Batson moved to hire
Gray. Marsh seconded. Motion carries. Gray enrolled
as volunteer firefighter effective this date.
APPARATUS RESPONSE PROTOCOLS
Boyd discussed proper apparatus response protocols. For structure
fires, the first-out apparatus is to be a pumper, followed by a
tanker. Wildland firefighting vehicles are not to be taken to
structure fires unless the fire has spread to adjacent wildlands.
OLD BUSINESS
None.
NEW BUSINESS
Boyd reported that the muffler on Engine-3 needed replacing.
Middleton will acquire and install a the new muffler.
Boyd reported that Tank-3 had an electrical short, but it has been
repaired. The air brake switch needs to be replaced. The
spare 5-ton at Pollard has a switch that can be used.
Boyd stated that there will be one to two hours of training following
each monthly meeting.
Marsh reported that a benefit will be held at the Pollard Substation
for Rita Hankins.

Batson moved to adjourn. Marsh seconded. Meeting adjourned
at 7:08 p.m.
