Minutes of Regularly Scheduled Monthly Meeting


CALL TO ORDER:
    The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a regularly scheduled monthly business meeting on Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Haworth Fire Department.  Chief Floyd Middleton called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.  Members present were: Eric Jackson, John Coffman, Michael Carrell, Jim Ferguson, Vic Marsh, Lyndon Farley, Scott Smith, Chad Wright, Keith Donaldson, Clint Ebert, Richard Owens, Floyd Middleton, Kyle Batson, Chris Hall, and Kirk Storey.  Junior Firefighters present: Landon Middleton, Shane Farley, Jay Don Tunnell, and Jarred Campbell.


MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
    Minutes of the previous meeting were presented.  Jackson moved to accept the minutes as written.  Ferguson seconded.  All members in favor.  Minutes approved.


FINANCIAL REPORT:
    Beginning Balance:  $ 2,684.39
    Income:             $   126.00    Town Water Customers - $1 Donations
    Expenses:           $   130.99    FuelMan – Fuel
    Ending Balance:     $ 2,679.40
    Wright moved to approve financial report.  Jackson seconded.  All members in favor.  Report approved.


ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT:
    Storey presented the Department’s Annual Financial Report.


DISMISSAL OF INACTIVE FIREFIGHTERS:
    Middleton reported that there were two inactive firefighters, David Smith and Ryan Scott, and that they had not received the mandatory training on the new pumper/tanker.  Members discussed what action to take on these two firefighters.  Carrell moved to dismiss both.  Ferguson seconded.  All members in favor.  Smith and Scott terminated as of this date.


DISPOSAL OF SURPLUS APPARATUS:
    Middleton reported that some local fire department’s had expressed interest in the two surplus apparatus currently for sale.  Members discussed and agreed upon listing Rescue-1 on FireTec if no local buyer could be found.  The asking price will be raised by 10% to cover the cost of listing the truck.  Wright suggested that Middleton be allowed to make the decision on any offers made.  All members agreed.  


LEARNING FOR LIFE “FIRE EXPLORER PROGRAM”:
    Kit Baker, program administrator for the Learning for Life “Fire Explorer Program” was on hand to discuss the benefits of forming a Fire Explorer Chapter.  The program is administered by the Boy Scouts of America and will provide insurance for members.  Members must be between 14 and 20 years of age.  Two adult advisers will be needed.  The cost is $7 per member.  Wright moved to form the Fire Explorer Post.  Donaldson seconded.  Carrell, Farley, Middleton, and Marsh agreed to serve as advisors.


OLD BUSINESS:
    None.


NEW BUSINESS:
    Wright presented the Annual Training Hours Report.
    Patti Tunnell offered to teach CPR-AED training for members of the Department.  Members agreed to pick a date and contact Mrs. Tunnell.
    Middleton requested that all members carry their Fire Shelters with them when battling wildland fires.

    Wright moved to adjourn.  Jackson seconded.  All members in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
