OLD BUSINESS:
Members were
reminded of the Tanker Shuttle Training
Course to be held on Saturday, February 19th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
the Broken Bow Fire Department.
Storey
updated members on the Repeater Relocation
Project. After comparing the existing site to the Tiak Tower
site, it was learned that the proposed Tiak site would result in a loss
of approximately 27 ½ feet in height. Storey further
stated that the radio technician had informed him that a large amount
of signal loss was due to the current repeater systems large duplexers,
which are necessary because of the closeness of the frequencies.
Members discussed recoordinating for new frequencies that are further
apart, thereby allowing for a smaller, lower loss, duplexer.
Storey was advised to begin the process of recoordinating the
frequencies.
Marsh
presented the 2005 meeting schedule.
Marsh
presented a Thank You letter from the First
Missionary Baptist Church in Haworth for the department’s assistance in
burning their old church.
Marsh stated
that Akron was producing a combination
nozzle that would also spray a straight stream. The nozzle is
advertised to work with compressed air foam systems (CAFS). Marsh
stated he would check pricing and ask Rosenbauer to switch the nozzles
included on the new pumper/tanker to the Akron if price permits.
Marsh also
reported on foam tank filling device
offered by FoamPro. The unit will allow firefighters to refill
the foam tank from the pump panel. Marsh will check pricing and
consult with Rosenbauer about including the system on the new
pumper/tanker.
NEW BUSINESS:
Marsh and
Middleton stated that instead of getting
another 5 ton from KEDDO, that they would cut the existing tank trailer
in half and make two tanks holding approximately 2,000 each.
These tanks will then be installed on the department’s two existing 5
tons.
Marsh
reported that the “Hot Spotter” from Hansen
Industries had arrived. The unit will be used and
evaluated. If they are deemed effective, two more will be ordered.
Wright
stated that the batteries in the new SCBA’s
need to be checked. They will be checked at the upcoming Search
& Rescue training.
