Minutes of Regularly Scheduled
Monthly Meeting
CALL TO ORDER:
The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a
regularly scheduled monthly business meeting on Tuesday, May 10, 2005
at the Haworth Fire Department. Chief Vic Marsh called the
meeting to order at 6:39 p.m. Members present were: Jimmy
Ferguson, Vic Marsh, Richard Owens, Scott Smith, Kyle Batson, Floyd
Middleton, Chad Wright, Mark Kates, John Coffman, Michael Carrell,
Lyndon Farley and Kirk Storey. Junior Firefighters present were: Landon
Middleton, Jarred Campbell, and Shane Farley. Guest present:
Scott Harris.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:
Minutes of the previous meeting were
presented. Wright moved to accept the minutes as written.
Kates seconded. All members in favor. Minutes approved.
FINANCIAL REPORT:
Beginning Balance: $13,572.80
Income:
$ 115.00 Town of Haworth Water Customers
- $1 Donations
Expenses:
$ 87.97 FuelMan – Fuel
$ 30.70 FuelMan – Fuel
Ending Balance: $13,569.13
Middleton moved to accept financial report.
Wright seconded. All members in favor. Financial Report
approved.
HIRE FIREFIGHER(S):
Marsh reported that the department had one
application; Scott Harris. Middleton asked if anyone had talked
to the Mayor about exceeding the 20 member limit. The Town
Council imposed a 14 member cap several years ago, but have allowed the
department to reach 20 members. Marsh stated that he would
consult with the Mayor. Wright moved to hire Harris if the Town
did not object. Ferguson seconded. All members in
favor. Motion approved.
OLD BUSINESS:
Middleton reported that he was still working on
Tank-2.
Marsh reported that he had installed the safety
railing on Truck-2.
NEW BUSINESS:
Marsh reported that he had scheduled an Introduction
to Technical Rescue course for July 9th and a Vehicle Extrication
course for August 27th and 28th.
Members were informed of the death of Tom Volunteer
Fire Department Fire Chief James Burris. Services are scheduled
for Saturday, May 14th at 11:00 a.m. at the Tom School gymnasium.

seconded. All members in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:57
p.m.
