The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department. Meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Middleton. Members present were: Storey, Wilcox, Batson, Carrell, Johnson, Middleton, Smith, Farley, Hall, Boyd, and White.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Wilcox moved to accept. White seconded. All members were in favor. Minutes approved.
Storey reported that the Department had no income during the previous month and the only expense was for $25.00 for the shipping costs on the laptop computer donated to the department. The Department’s current Balance is $3,828.57. Hall moved to accept the financial report. White seconded. All members in favor. Financial report approved.
Boyd and Middleton outlined projects for the department in the near future. Projects discussed were: finishing Engine-3 (1980 Ford) and placing it in service; hooking-up booster hose reels on Engine-2; and conducting regular fire drills. Middleton reported that he had received permission to park Tank-2 in the Redland Church of Christ’s parking lot, while work was being done on Engine-3 in the Redland Substation. It was decided to work on Engine-3 on Wednesday evenings; those who are available to help were encouraged to participate. It was decided to conduct a fire drill immediately following the Association meeting.
Old Business: Storey reported that he had sold the Yaesu dual band radio to David Eaton; 102 LaSalle Drive; San Angelo, TX 76903-7914 (915) 651-4362 for $250.00 plus shipping costs. Payment has been received.
Middleton reported that he had purchased new batteries and placed on Tank-2.
Smith reported that the brake booster on Engine-1 needed to be taken to Texarkana and rebuilt.
New Business: Storey reported that he had failed to place an agenda item on this month’s agenda for hiring a firefighter and that currently there was only one active application. Middleton stated he would measure the response time from the applicant’s house to the station to see if it was within departmental limit.
Middleton moved to adjourn. Smith seconded. All members in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
