Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department

The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department.  Meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Middleton.  Members present were: Storey,  Hall, Batson, Middleton and White.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  White moved to accept.  Hall seconded.  All members were in favor.  Minutes approved.

Storey reported that the Department received a $104.00 donation from the Foreman United Fund on behalf of Georgia Pacific employees.  Two expenses were noted; a payment of $1,000.00 was made on the loan for the ‘72 Ford and an expense of $33.08 at ABCO Office Supply for copier toner.  The Department’s current Balance is $2,899.49.  White  moved to accept the financial report.  Batson  seconded.  All members in favor.  Financial report approved.

Storey reported that the probationary period was ending on two members: James Johnson and Jeff Boyd.  Middleton asked for a vote.  Vote was unanimous to keep both members.

Old Business: Middleton reported that the previously discussed workdays would be put off until cooler weather.

New Business: Storey reported that Lance Jeanes would be able to sell the department fuels without charging the tax.  This will save 35 cents per gallon.  When fueling departmental vehicles, members must sign the ticket and make sure the ticket is made out to “Town of Haworth; Fire Department.”

The need to prepare evacuation plans was discussed.  Middleton tabled the issue until he can visit with area churches and the schools about them serving as shelters.

Storey reported that Kenneth Alford’s retirement had been approved by the State Pension Board.

Batson moved to adjourn.  Hall seconded.  All members in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 7:02 p.m.
