Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department

CALL TO ORDER
The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a regularly scheduled monthly business meeting on Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at the Haworth Fire Station.  Meeting was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by Chief Middleton.  Members present were: Batson, Marsh, Wright, Smith, Ebert, Donaldson, Cowart, Ferguson, Middleton, and Storey.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  Wright moved to accept.    Batson  seconded.  All members in favor.  Minutes approved.

FINANCIAL REPORT
Beginning Balance:    $     626.17
Income:                    $     150.00    Donations from Town residents
Expenses:                 $              0   
Ending Balance:        $     776.17
Cowart moved to accept finance report.  Ebert seconded.  All members in favor.  Report approved.

OLD BUSINESS
Ferguson reported that he had installed locks on Tank-1.

Discussed 5 ton truck and tank trailer in Ferguson’s pasture.  Members decided to move the truck to the Pollard Substation and give tank trailer back to the County Commissioner.

NEW BUSINESS
Marsh suggested having a fundraiser in conjunction with the upcoming political speaking at Haworth.  Members agreed to sell soft drinks and water.  Marsh appointed Chairman.

Storey reported that the department had two grant applications pending; the FIRE Act grant from FEMA and a Community Facilities grant from U.S.D.A. – Rural Development.  Both grant applications were to fund the purchase of a pumper/tanker.
Middleton asked members if they wanted to move Truck-1 to the Pollard Substation.  Batson made a motion to move the truck to the Pollard Substation.  Donaldson seconded.  All members in favor.  Motion approved.  Truck will be moved after replacing tank.

Discussed Truck-4.   Members decided to put a regular pickup bed on the truck and equip it as a wildland firefighting vehicle.

Discussed Truck-5.  It is still out of service due to mechanical problems.  Wright moved to drop insurance on the truck.  Cowart seconded.  All members in favor.  Motion carried.

ADJOURN
Batson moved to adjourn.  Cowart seconded.  Meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
