of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department

The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, August 4, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department.  Meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Middleton.  Members present were: Storey, Batson, Middleton, Smith, White, Johnson, Carrell, Boyd.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  White moved to accept.  Carrell seconded.  All members were in favor.  Minutes approved.

Storey reported that the Department received no income and incurred no expenses during the previous month.  The Department’s current Balance is $2,899.49.  Boyd  moved to accept the financial report.  Batson  seconded.  All members in favor.  Financial report approved.

Middleton reported that Tank-2 had been leased to the U.S. Forest Service to assist in fighting the fires in Northern McCurtain County.  The amount received per hour is $39.80 after deducting the pay for a driver ($10.20).  Middleton proposed that the money received from this project (so far, estimated to be $5,000 to $6,000)  be applied toward the purchase of a used pumper/tanker.  Additionally, a KEDDO Operational Grant for approximately $2,100.00 will be received in the near future.  Members present agreed that once the existing loan was paid off, the search for an appropriate pumper/tanker could begin.

The possibility of offering the 1980 Ford chassis to the Tom Fire Department for $1,000 was discussed.  Middleton reported that the Town Council would vote on the issue at the next monthly meeting.  In the event that the Tom Fire Dept. does not want the truck, it will be offered for public sale at fair market value.  All members were in agreement.

Storey reported that the revised FCC license for the department’s repeater had been approved and received.  Lindsey’s Communications has been notified and the repeater will be moved on August 5, at 9:00 a.m.
