The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department met in a Special Emergency Meeting on Tuesday, August 14, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department. Meeting was called to order at 6:44 p.m. by Middleton. Members present were: Storey, Batson, Middleton, Smith, White, Farley, Johnson, and Boyd.
Storey reported that the Department would be receiving approximately $10,000.00 from the leasing of Tank-2 to the U.S. Forest Service for water shuttle operations in Northern McCurtain County. Storey also presented information on various used pumper/tanker apparatus which had been located. Members present reviewed the information presented and selected a 1976 Ford/Bean from FireTec. The amount being asked for the apparatus is $8,000.00 plus approximately $1,500.00 for shipping. White moved to purchase the apparatus. Smith seconded. All members in favor. Purchase approved.
Storey reported that the Department had been awarded a $25,000.00 grant from Weyerhaeuser for the purpose of a Mini-Attack/Wildland Firefighting truck. Information was presented on various trucks that had been located. Members present reviewed the information. Boyd moved to table the issue until additional videos and further information could be obtained. Hall moved to proceed with the purchase of a 1978 Dodge Mini-Pumper from Affordable Fire Equipment in Sand Springs, OK for $17,500.00, which includes shipping. Smith seconded. A vote was taken by show of hands: 5 in favor of the purchase and 2 against. Purchase approved.
Smith moved to adjourn. White seconded. All members in favor. Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
