Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department
CALL TO ORDER
The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a regularly scheduled
monthly business meeting on Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at the Haworth
Fire Station. Meeting was called to order at 6:35 p.m. by Chief
Middleton. Members present were: Storey, Middleton, Marsh,
Wright, Cowart, Ferguson, Batson, Donaldson, and Owens.
MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Cowart moved to
accept. Wright seconded. All members in
favor. Minutes approved.

Cowart moved to accept finance report. Wright seconded. All
members in favor. Report approved.
OLD BUSINESS
Middleton reported that the tank trailer in Ferguson’s pasture had been
returned to the County Commissioner. The 5 ton truck has been
moved to the Pollard Substation.
Marsh reported that the fundraiser that had been scheduled for the
political speaking in Haworth had been cancelled, due to another
benefit having already been scheduled for that night. Members
decided not to reschedule the fundraiser, but will move forward with
plans for the annual Pollard Substation Fundraiser.
Middleton reported that a regular pickup bed had been installed on
Truck-4.
Members discussed disposing of Truck-5 (the 2 ½ ton truck at
Redland that is currently out of service). Middleton reported
that the Sherwood Community was in the process of establishing a fire
department and could possibly use the truck. Members also
discussed leaving the tank and pump on the truck. Marsh moved to
transfer the truck and equipment to the Sherwood Fire Department once
it was officially sanctioned by the State. Batson seconded.
All members in favor. Transfer of truck and equipment approved.
NEW BUSINESS
Marsh reported that the McCurtain County Fair Parade would be held on
Friday.
Middleton reported that the McCurtain County Firefighter Association
meeting would be held on Tuesday, September 10th.
Marsh reported that the Annual Pollard Substation Benefit would be held
on October 4th at 6:00 pm. Benefit will be a pie/cake walk and
auction. Proceeds to be used to purchase equipment.
Storey reported that the Department had been awarded three grants from
the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture. The first grant, an 80/20
matching grant for $6,000, had been awarded for the purchase of
equipment for a new pumper/tanker (if the Department receives a FIRE
Act Grant from FEMA). The Department must supply a local match of
$1,500, for a total project cost of $7,500.
The second grant, a National Fire Plan 50/50 matching grant for $2,500,
had been awarded for the purchase of eight (8) new radios. The
Department must supply a local match of $2,500, for a total project
cost of $5,000.
The third grant, a Title II 50/50 matching grant for $2,500, had
been awarded for the purchase of eight (8) new radios. The
Department must supply a local match of $2,500, for a total project
cost of $5,000.

Batson moved to adjourn. Wright seconded. Meeting adjourned
at 7:03 p.m.
