Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department

The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, September 1, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department.  Meeting was called to order at 6:58 p.m. by Middleton.  Members present were: Storey, Batson, Smith, Middleton, D. Johnson, Farley, Lacy, J. Johnson, White.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  White moved to accept.  Batson seconded.  All members were in favor.  Minutes approved.

Storey reported that the Department's income for the previous month was: a $25,000 grant from Weyerhaeuser for the purchase of a mini-pumper, $10,807.70 Lease Agreement payment from the U.S. Forest Service for the Bear Mtn. Fire Complex, and a $2,261.91 Operational Grant from KEDDO.  Expenses for the month were: $63.37 for fuel from Frontier General Store in Hochatown for Tank-2, $10.00 for fixing a flat at South Park Truck Stop in Broken Bow for Tank-2, $1,000 down-payment to Warners Fire District for '76 Ford/Bean pumper/tanker, $429.00 rent on portable pump from RenterCenter in Idabel for Tank-2,  $9,000.00 down-payment to Affordable Fire Equipment for '78 Dodge Mini-Pumper,  $2,003.40 to Lindsey Communication for moving repeater to new location,  $602.00 to Lett Electronics for two mobile radios, two antennas and one handheld battery,  $1,495.00 to BestWay Trucking for freight charges on '76 Ford/Bean, $7,000.00 to Warners Fire District for balance owed on '76 Ford/Bean,  $58.00 for fuel from Frontier General Store in Hochatown for Tank-2, and  $1,293.53 to Oklahoma Dept of Agriculture for 17 sections of 1 ½" hose.   The Department’s current Balance is $18,014.80.  Smith moved to accept the financial report.  White  seconded.  All members in favor.  Financial report approved.

Middleton reported that the '76 Ford/Bean had been received.  The '78 Dodge Mini-Pumper is scheduled to be delivered soon.

Purchasing equipment for recently purchased apparatus was discussed.  A list is to be compiled immediately following meeting.

Middleton reported that new mobile radios had been purchased for recently purchased apparatus.  Purchasing handheld radios was discussed.  Issue was tabled until necessary equipment had been purchased.

Hiring an additional firefighter was discussed.  Storey reported that the only active application was from David Johnson.  Middleton moved the hire Johnson.  Smith seconded.  All members in favor.  D. Johnson hired as firefighter effective this date.

A Bloodborne Pathogens course was discussed.  D. Johnson reported that he was certified to teach the course.  The only cost would be $2.00 per person for the required book.  Course will last approximately one hour and is to be conducted after the October meeting.

Middleton moved to adjourn.  White seconded.  All members in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 7:24 p.m.
