NEW STATION CONSTRUCTION PROJECT
Storey reported that he had contacted the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s
Office and was informed that the new fire station/town hall would be required
to meet the 1996 BOCA Building Codes. The dividing wall between the
fire station/town hall must be a 2-hour rated firewall (consisting of 5/8"
sheetrock on both sides and extending from the floor to the roof).
Middleton stated that there were differing views on the proposal to install a door between the fire station and town hall, and suggested it be voted on by members. Smith suggested installing another exterior exit door in the town hall instead of the door in the firewall.
Middleton moved to install the door in the firewall. Batson seconded. The vote, taken by “show of hands”, was 5 members FOR and 2 members AGAINST, with Middleton abstaining. Motion to install door approved.
HIRE FIREFIGHTERS
Storey reported that the Department had two active applications for
membership: Jason Teel and Clay Hattabaugh. Smith moved to hire both
applicants. White seconded. All members in favor. Teel
and Hattabaugh hired as firefighters effective this date.
OCTOBERFEST - VOL. FIREFIGHTER’S CHALLENGE
