Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department

CALL TO ORDER
The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a regularly scheduled monthly business meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2002 at the Haworth Fire Station.  Meeting was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by Chief Middleton.  Members present were: Storey, Marsh, Batson, Wright, Middleton, Farley, Hattabaugh, Ferguson, Cowart, S. Carrell, White, Hall, Owens, and Boyd.

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  Hattabaugh moved to accept.    Wright seconded.  All members in favor.  Minutes approved.

FINANCIAL REPORT
Beginning Balance:    $     776.17
Income:                    $     150.00    $1 Donation from Town water customers
Expenses:                 $              0   
Ending Balance:        $     926.17
Hattabaugh moved to accept.  Marsh seconded.  All members in favor.  Report approved.

OLD BUSINESS
Middleton reported that he had not been contacted by anyone from the Sherwood community regarding the transfer of the 2 ½ ton KEDDO truck.

NEW BUSINESS
Cowart reported that the rear tires on Truck-4 have been replaced.

Members discussed swapping four 1-ton wheels to Richard Owens for four ¾ ton wheels.  Boyd moved to swap wheels.  Hattabaugh seconded.  All members in favor.  Motion approved.

Marsh reported that the Department’s Pollard Benefit has been rescheduled for Saturday, October 12th, at 6 p.m.  Benefit will be a pie and cake walk/auction.  Hot dogs, nachos, frito chili pies, and soft drinks will also be sold.  Candidates for the upcoming election have also been invited to attend.

Bo McKee donated a tailgate for Truck-4 to the Department.

Middleton reported that the McCurtain Co. Firefighters Association would hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, October 8th at the Broken Bow Fire Department.  A free dinner will be provided for those attending the meeting.  Representatives from Casco will also be on hand to visit with firefighters.

Storey reported that OK State Forestry had delivered a “FireWise” kit to the Department.  The kit contains handouts and videos on rural fire safety.

Storey also reported that Fire Prevention Week would be October 5 – 11.  Members will be notified when a date and time for the annual school visit is established.

Batson moved to adjourn.  Owens seconded.  Meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
