The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department. Meeting was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Middleton. Members present were: Storey, Middleton, Boyd, Smith, Kates, D. Johnson, Farley, Lacy, Carrell, and White.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Boyd moved to accept. Smith seconded. All members were in favor. Minutes approved.
Storey reported that the Department's income for the previous month was: a $9,000 (return of downpayment on mini-pumper from Affordable Fire Equipment. Expenses for the month were: $309.01 for hand tools and first aid supplies from Wal-Mart; $4.00 to the Oklahoma Tax Commission for the Title on the 1976 Ford/Bean; and $276.38 to Wal-Mart for two chainsaws, printer labels, and business cards. The Department’s current Balance is $26,425.41. White moved to accept the financial report. Carrell seconded. All members in favor. Financial report approved.
Storey reported on the situation of the mini-pumper. George Blackburn at Affordable Fire Equipment had called the day before delivery was to be made to report that it would be after the 15th of October before the truck could be released for shipment. Storey reported that he and located the fire department owning the truck and had spoken with the Chief and the Mayor. The truck had been placed up for public bid. Middleton reported that the Department had submitted a bid of $13,599.99 for the truck. Bid opening date is October 15th.
Middleton reported that the Town had approved the disposal of the 1980 Ford and that he had taken pictures of it. Smith suggested that the truck be offered to Dana at Fire Apparatus Resources and see what she would be willing to give for the truck or trade for it.
The topic of purchasing additional equipment was tabled until the outcome of the mini-pumper bid was known.
