APPARATUS TRAINING:
Wright
stated that since the new Pumper/Tanker will
soon be delivered, training needs to be scheduled. Middleton
stated that he would be available to train firefighters at their
convenience December 20-27. Firefighters will be notified when
the truck is delivered and individual train sessions scheduled.
OLD BUSINESS:
Middleton
reported that several changes had been
made to the new Pumper/Tanker. Most notably, the medical
equipment originally ordered with the truck has been deleted and 6”
hard suction hose added in its place. A chrome grill was also
ordered for the truck at a cost of $329.00. Delivery of the new
truck has been delayed due to an oil leak. It has been repaired
and the truck should be available for pick-up November 20.
Middleton
discussed responding with the new
Pumper/Tanker. Due to low-hanging equipment related to the
compressed air foam system, the truck should not be driven down gravel
roads or on roads that may be soft, muddy, and/or slick. It has a
large number of wires, cables and hoses that could be damaged if taken
off the hard-surface roadways. If firefighters are uncertain
about the location of the fire, Middleton requested that Engine-3 be
taken instead, due to its being more maneuverable. He also
requested Engine-3 be used when it is necessary to travel on
dirt/gravel roadways to reach a fire scene.
NEW BUSINESS:
Members
discussed which apparatus to sell upon
delivery of the new Pumper/Tanker. Wright moved to sell the 1974
Ford Pumper (Engine-4) and the 1975 Dodge Mini-Pumper (Rescue-1) and
purchase a Midi-Pumper that could serve as both a rescue truck and
reserve pumper. Kates seconded. All members in favor.
Motion carried.
Wright
reported that the department has a standing
invitation to use the burn facility at the Domtar Paper Mill in
Ashdown, AR. He requested that any firefighters interested in
using the facility contact him to schedule a date. He also stated
that training videos would be shown after meetings in 2006.
ADJOURN:
Ferguson
moved to adjourn. Jackson
seconded. All members in favor. Meeting adjourned at 7:37
p.m.
