Minutes of Regular Monthly Meeting
of the
Haworth Volunteer Fire Department

The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, November 3, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department.  Meeting was called to order at 6:37 p.m. by Middleton.  Members present were: Batson, Middleton, Boyd, Smith, Carrell, Hall, White, and Storey.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read.  Boyd moved to accept.  Smith seconded.  All members were in favor.  Minutes approved.

Storey reported that expenses for the previous month were: $11.11 to Haworth Post Office for postage, $71.49 to OSI for decals, $90.33 to First Communications for handheld batteries, $13,599.99 to Town of Sheffield for ‘75 Dodge Mini-Pumper, $3.00 to Idabel Post Office for Priority Mail of payment for Mini-Pumper, $1,375.00 to Best Ways Brokerage for freight charges on Mini-Pumper, $3.00 to Haworth Post Office for Priority Mail for 80/20% Grant application, $43.50 to OK Tax Commission for tag and title for Mini-Pumper, $60.00 to Shortline Supply for two tow chains, $5.00 to Garrett Fina for safety inspection on Mini-Pumper, $115.92 to Wal-Mart for two batteries for Mini-Pumper.    Income for the previous month was: $2,657.50 from Brinkley Auction from the sale of ‘80 Ford.  Current balance is $13,704.57.  White moved to accept.  Carrell seconded.  All members in favor.  Financial report approved.

Storey reported that the Department had received official confirmation that it had been awarded an 80/20% matching grant through KEDDO for the construction of a new Fire Station.  The total amount of the grant money provided by KEDDO is $12,000.00, with the Department being responsible for providing matching funds of $3,000.00.  Monies must not be spent prior to receiving official purchase order from the State.  Monies must be spent and then reimbursement requested through KEDDO / State Forestry.  Possible locations for new station were discussed.  Middleton reported that the Town was applying for a grant for the purpose of constructing a new Town Hall which can be used with this grant to build new Town Hall/Fire Station complex.  Developing a contingency plan was discussed in the event that the Town does not receive their grant.

Storey reported that the Department had received $2,657.50 from the sale of the 1980 Ford.  Middleton reported that when the scrap yard opens, the Department had a couple loads of scrap iron to be sold.  Discussed selling winch, 350 GPM Darley pump, 6 cylinder military engine, and pump/motor combination.

Smith reported that State Forestry owes OSU-FST in excess of $1,000,000.00 for fire service training to rural departments and local OSU-FST training was not being conducted until the dispute is resolved.  Middleton stated that the Department’s mandate of 12 hours of OSU-FST training would be waived for 1998.  Members are still responsible for accumulating 12 hours of In-House training.

Old Business: Haworth Christmas Parade to be held December 5th at 2:00 p.m.
Idabel Christmas Parade to be held December 7 (Engine 2 and Truck 2 entered).
Annual Free Bean Dinner will be Saturday November 14th from 4-8 p.m.

New Business: None

White moved to adjourn.  Hall seconded.  All members in favor.  Meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
