The Haworth Volunteer Fire Department held a Regular Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, December 1, 1998 at the Haworth Fire Department. Meeting was called to order at 6:50 p.m. by Middleton. Members present were: Batson, Middleton, Boyd, Smith, Hall, White, and Storey.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Middleton moved to accept. Smith seconded. All members were in favor. Minutes approved.
Storey reported a beginning balance of $13,704.57. Expenses for the previous month were: $600.00 to Chief Fire & Safety for 400' of 1 ½" hose, $2,501.50 to Fire Apparatus Resources for 6 SCBA and 6 spare bottles, $7,234.00 to LeeCo for Invoice #98390 & #98402. Income for the previous month was: $85.78 from the Foreman United Fund (Georgia-Pacific Ashdown plant United Way campaign). Current balance is $3,454.85. Hall moved to accept. White seconded. All members in favor. Financial report approved.
The building grant was discussed. The Town of Haworth has applied for a REAP Grant and it can be combined with the Department’s KEDDO grant to build a station. Project tabled until Town receives word on their grants.
The issue of equipment purchase was tabled until questions about the grants are resolved.
Election of Secretary/Treasurer. Middleton opened floor for nominations. Smith nominated Storey. Middleton seconded. No further nominations. Storey elected by acclamation.
Old Business. Members were reminded of Haworth Christmas Parade to be held Saturday.
New Business. None
Hall moved to adjourn. White seconded. All members in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:58 p.m.
