HAWORTH VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS ASSOCIATION
ARTICLE No. 1 - NAME
This organization shall be known as the Haworth Volunteer Firefighters
Association.
ARTICLE No. 2 - MOTTO
The motto of the Haworth Volunteer Firefighters Association shall be
“WE SERVE TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY”.
ARTICLE No. 3 - PURPOSE
The purpose of this Association shall be to create a general and mutual
understanding among its members to devise ways and means to educate and
improve the fire service for the citizens residing within the protection
area of the Haworth Volunteer Firefighters Association.
ARTICLE No. 4 - MEMBERSHIP
Sec. 1 The membership of this Association shall consist of active
members and honorary members.
Sec. 2 Active Members: All members of the fire department who are not receiving pension benefits shall be eligible for membership and will be entitled to vote.
Sec. 3 Honorary Members: This category shall consist of all members who receive pension benefits or that are specifically designated by the membership but they shall not be entitled to vote.
ARTICLE No. 5 - OFFICERS
Sec. 1 The officers of the Association shall consist of the President,
Vice President, and the Secretary/Treasurer.
Sec. 2 The officers shall be elected annually at the July meeting.
Sec. 3 The Fire Chief and the Assistant Fire Chief shall be prohibited from serving as an officer of the Association.
ARTICLE No. 6 - DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Sec. 1 It shall be the duty of the President to preside at the
monthly meetings of the Association and all other meetings called by the
President and shall perform all other such duties as deemed by the membership.
Sec. 2 It shall be the duty of the Vice President to perform the duties of the President in his absence and any other duties as deemed by the membership.
Sec. 3 It shall be the duty of the Secretary/Treasurer to collect all monies due the Association from all sources and shall have custody of the funds. All monies in his possession belonging to the Association shall be deposited in the Association’s bank account. He shall keep a true and accurate record of all monies received and disbursed and all payments of account shall be by Association check. He shall present a written statement of the activity of the Association at each monthly meeting along with the financial statement. He shall perform any other duties as deemed by the membership.
ARTICLE No. 7 - REVENUES
Sec. 1 No dues shall be collected from members.
Sec. 2 The Association’s revenues shall be from various fundraisers and donations.
ARTICLE No. 8 - EXPENSES
Sec. 1 The revenues shall not be used to benefit any one officer
or member but shall be used to benefit all members and the citizens within
the Association’s protection area.
Sec. 2 All expenses, other than normal operating costs of the Association, shall be by vote of the membership. Normal operating expenses shall be presented to the membership at the next monthly meeting.
ARTICLE No. 9 - AMENDMENTS
All proposed amendments or revisions of this Constitution shall be
presented at the regular or special meeting of the Association, in writing,
and notices are to be given to all members at least ten (10) days prior
to the next regular or special meeting. The amendment must receive
a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present and voting.
ARTICLE No. 10 - COMMITTEES
The President shall appoint such committees as deemed necessary by
the membership.
