Jadie Tower

The Jadie Tower, located in Shinewell, is operated by Judy Farley. The tower is operational during times of high fire danger. State Forestry maintains several of these towers in the Southeast Oklahoma area. Their function is to watch for smoke.

When smoke from an unknown source is identified, Judy will take a compass
bearing on the smoke. One of the other towers, generally the Tom
Tower, will also take a bearing on the smoke, too. Then, by using
a "triangulation" method, the exact location of the smoke and the land
owner can be determined. Judy can then dispatch one of State Forestry's
fire crews (a bulldozer with a fire plow and a wildland pumper) along with
the nearest fire department.
